Recognition: Medical Student, Addiction Psychiatry Fellows submit abstracts for conference

Third year medical student Alexandra Wang and addiction psychiatrists Drs. Kathleen Svala and Narendra Singh submitted posters to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to be presented at the annual meeting in April of next year. Their work can further research in the onset ordering of anxiety disorders in relation to substance abuse/smoking cessation and understanding the interaction between primary and secondary disorders along with how behaviors carrying positive health impacts affect treatment.
Collaboration: PTSD manuscript advanced for publication
Ms. Yvonne Chasser, fourth year medical student's manuscript entitled "Adolescent Substance Use and Psychiatric Comorbidity: What Factors Predict First Use and PTSD?" has been submitted to a journal for publication.
Recognition: Dr. Pagano ranks high in H-index

As indexed by the academic database, Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com/), Dr. Pagano's research has exceeded well over 4,200 citations from other scholars and research scientists. While this number is impressive, Dr. Pagano also reports both a high h-index (36+) and i10-index, as calcuated using Google Scholar'sdatabase.
Lectures: Project staff invited to speak at WYLN
The Westshore Enforcement Bureau's (WEB) alcohol and other drug prevention program, the Westshore Young Leaders Network (WYLN), invited "Helping Others" staff to speak to high school students regarding helping behavior, addiction research, and other topics relevant to young people. These lectures will be taking place next year.
